The programme for the meeting in Ropaži , January 26-29, 2012.
January 26:
9.00 – meeting at the hotel and going to Ropaži by our school bus.
Getting acquainted with Ropaži and our educational and commercial establishments:
Visiting our master of blacksmith A.Oleksāns;
The kindergarten “Annele”;
Music and Art School “Rodenpoys”;
Meeting the members of history re-enactment club “Rodenpoys” (they will meet us at our medieval castle ruins – be ready to stand some time in cold).
13.00 – lunch at our school canteen.
14.15 – going to Zaķumuiža Elementary School;
Visit to 333 car racing track and interview with its owner V.Šlēgelmilhs and his son Haralds (our previous student – a Formula racer);
17.00 Evening in the Latvian bathhouse. Possibility to enjoy a real way of going to the bathhouse with flapping you with birch-twigs that will be done by professional bathhouse attendants, afterwards jumping into a cold pond (for ladies – a pool inside the bathhouse); dinner. (approximate expenses – 15,- to 20,-LVL per person).
Return to the host families (students) and to the hotel by our school bus.
January 27:
8.00 – meeting at the hotel and going to Ropaži by our school bus.
9.15- assembly meeting with the students of our school at the hall (be ready to introduce your delegations shortly);
Meeting with the students from classes 10-12. Answers to their questions.
Going round the school and meeting students in their classrooms.
11.00 – 13.00 :
Sport activities:
- adapted games; (prepared by our sport teachers Lena and Artis);
- traditional games ( each country should be ready to act out one game from your country with the group of our students).
13.00 Lunch at our school’s canteen.
14.00 -15.45: project group meeting.
16.00 – reception at local authorities.
16.30 – reception by Sports Centre manager director.
17.00 – reception at Culture Centre and a conversation with its manager director.
17.30 – coffee break.
18.00 – Concert of children interest clubs’ participants.
At about 20.00 dinner at the cafe. (approx. 10,-LVL per person)
Return to the hotel by our school bus.
January 28:
A day in Riga.
Students arrive to Riga by public transport (1,20 LVL single ticket) or by cars.
10.30 a two hour walk round Old Riga including rising up to the sightseeing platform of St Peter’s Church. An hour by tour bus round Riga. ( aprox. expenses 12,-LVL per person).
14.00 Lunch at the recreation centre “Lido”. (aprox. expenses 10,- to 15,-LVL depending on how hungry you are). Possibility to hire a pair of skates and enjoy this activity. Return to the city centre by public transport (0,50 LVL);
17.00 ice hockey match 6,- to 10,- LVL; students tickets- 50% discount)
or the evening with live music in the centre “Lido”.
January 29:
9.00 at the hotel;
A trip to the private company “Lāči”, possibility to observe the process of baking bread, experience making your own loaf of bread. ( 5,-LVL). Lunch at the cafe. (3,- to 5,-LVL).
14.00 Free afternoon.
